Poros can be reached from Athens by road or by sea. It is connected to the Peloponnese mainland by car ferry, but visitor can choose to park their car at Galatas and make the short crossing by water taxi. Visitors are encouraged to use the local bus or water taxi service to get around Poros—or, of course walk or cycle —to help preserve the island’s traditional character.
By ROAD FROM ATHENS
Take the Athens-Corinth highway in the direction of Corinth.
At the Corinth Isthmus, exit at “Corinth Exit B—Epidaurus”.
Follow the road for about 30 minutes to a sign marking the exit for “Poros-Spetses-Galatas-Tracheia”.
Turn right at the exit, and almost immediately turn left under the small overpass. At the intersection,
follow the road uphill past the AB supermarket for roughly 1 kilometer to the Poros-Galatas turn off.
Total distance from the Elefsina tolls is 141 kms. Estimated driving time is 2 ½ hours.
Poros-Galatas Car Ferries
Car ferries leave Galatas for Poros on the hour and on the half-hour and from Poros for Galatas at 10 minutes and 40 minutes past the hour. The ferry trip takes about 10 minutes each way.

By boat or hydrofoil from Piraeus
There is daily ferry boat service linking Piraeus and Poros. The trip takes approximately 2 hours and 15 minutes.
There is also daily hydrofoil and catamaran service from Piraeus. The journey takes between 60 and 75 minutes depending on the vessel type.
